Foods for Ailments

Things I learned from watching Rachael Ray today:

If you have high cholesterol, eat lots of pears. They are loaded with soluble fiber which binds with the bad cholesterol in your intestines and helps you get rid of it.

If you have an upset stomach, eat basil. (Don't keep basil in the fridge. It doesn't like the cold). Basil has ugenol which helps stop the spasms of your intestines and helps reduce pain related to an upset stomach. This can also be found in cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Just be careful when taking it as a supplement vs from your diet because too much can cause liver damage.

If you have high blood pressure eat raisins. They will help lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular maintenance. This is because they contain poly phenol.

If you suffer headaches, eat potatoes. They can boost your seratonin levels which help ease headaches. Roasted or baked. Not mashed potatoes.

Hemorrhoids... Figs. They have 4g of fiber which softens your stool and makes you more regular.

Forget Retail Therapy. Go For Rental Therapy!

I don't know about you, but a good retail therapy session can cure just about any of my blues. But then I have to listen to my husband fuss when six months later, that fabulous new purse I just HAD to have is now gathering dust under my bed.

Well it looks like there's a perfect solution.  Rental therapy!  Yep. That's right. Websites like adorn.com or bagborroworsteal.com offer designer brands that you can rent for either one night or for a whole month.

On adorn.com you can rent high fashion jewelry for a special evening out including earrings for as low as $60 ($175 to buy), necklaces as low as $86 ($1800 to buy), bracelets as low as $85 ($2900 to buy), clutches for as low as $90 ($675 to buy), and a various assortment of hair accessories.

On bagborroworsteal.com you can borrow, buy, or sell purse. You can borrow a Tori Burch bag for as low as $75/month. That's only $2.50 a day!  You can rent a Louis Vuitton for as low as $150/month (that's a whopping $5 a day).  They even have a Louis Vuitton rolling suitcase for $300/month. You can also rent jewelry by Chanel and Dior. Sunglasses from Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs. Chanel or Rolex watches.

Hmm, I'm thinking a "new" Louis Vuitton bag might be the perfect pick me up for my postpartum blues ;)

Hi

I've tried blogging before and it never stuck. I think maybe because it always tried to put too much thought into it, or tried to stay on one train of topics, or tried too hard to be quirky and funny. Which I'm not. This time I've decided to let my blog be as random as me. Whatever I see that I think needs sharing, or that I really don't want to forget as have nowhere to store yet another random recipe or magazine page, will go here. Enjoy the chaos!
